FAQ about Kullaflyg’s environmental efforts

1. How much carbon dioxide do you release?
The answer is not simple, but a SAAB 340 emits 36 kg CO2 per passenger on the route (146 km) between Rönne and Copenhagen.

2. Which is best, propeller or jet?
In the choice between propeller and jet it is difficult to give a general answer. One can generally say that it is a better environmental choice to fly with propeller planes for shorter distances. This is especially true it there is a high number of passengers in the cabin.

3. Can one climate compensate for one's journey?
One can always compensate for one's journey through one of the organisations that offer this. One example is www.atmosfair.de.

4. Do you purchase emissions allowances?
We will offer our passengers the chance to offset their emissions when they book their trip. We will choose to purchase emissions allowances.

5. Do you fly with so-called green approaches?
We fly in accordance with ECO - a flight principle that typically saves 70 - 100 kg fuel per route leg. The ECO principle is based on the pilots reducing speed and staying at a high altitude a little longer and then dropping down towards the airport at low thrust. Both measures save fuel.

6. Are you environmentally certified?
We work towards an environmental certification in accordance with ISO 14001.

7. Do you participate in any environmental projects?
We are currently investigating local and regional projects that may be of interest to support. We feel that it is just and right.

8. You sort waste? How?
Currently we sort our waste in six different groups: papers, newspapers, glass, plastics, aluminum, and composts.
